March 1: Women's History Month: -- The
first day of an annual declared month that highlights the
contributions of women to events in history and contemporary
society. It is celebrated during March in the United States, the
United Kingdom, and Australia, corresponding with International
Women's Day on March 8, and during October in Canada,
corresponding with the celebration of Persons Day on October 18.
Every year in the United States, March is designated Women's
History Month by Presidential proclamation. Women's History Month
began as a local celebration in Santa Rosa, California. The
Education Task Force of the Sonoma County Commission on the Status
of Women planned and executed a "Women's History Week"
celebration in California in 1978. The organizers selected the
week of March 8 to correspond with International Women's Day. The
movement spread across the country as other communities initiated
their own Women's History Week celebrations the following year. In
1980, a consortium of women's groups and historians, led by the
National Women's History Project (now the National Women's History
Alliance), successfully lobbied for national recognition. In
February 1980, President Jimmy Carter issued the first
Presidential Proclamation declaring the Week of March 8th 1980 as
National Women's History Week. Subsequent Presidents continued to
proclaim a National Women's History Week in March until 1987, when
Congress passed Public Law 100-9, designating March as "Women's
History Month." Between 1988 and 1994, Congress passed
additional resolutions requesting and authorizing the President to
proclaim March of each year as Women's History Month. Since 1995,
each president has issued an annual proclamations designating the
month of March as "Women's History Month." The National
Women's History Alliance selects and publishes the yearly theme.
The theme for Women's History Month in 2021 captures the spirit of
these challenging times. Since many of the women's suffrage
centennial celebrations originally scheduled for 2020 were
curtailed, the National Women's History Alliance is extending the
annual theme for 2021 to "Valiant Women of the Vote: Refusing
to Be Silenced." On Sale @ 15% Off Discount Till Midnight PT!

March 1: International Women Of Color
Day: -- A celebration of women who are not caucasian - the great
majority of the world's population - founded by the National
Institute for Women of Color or the N.I.W.C., which has since
become inactive. The objective of this day is to celebrate the
contributions and achievements of diverse women of color. Today,
we honor their supporters as well. The day was first celebrated in
Washington, D.C. The day is a reminder that all the contributions
made by women of color will be recognized and given fair judgment.
It is celebrated in the U.S. and is a global event happening all
over the world. International Women of Color Day celebrates
diverse women of color, their contributions, and their traditions.
It is celebrated in 25 states across America and five other
countries. On International Women of Color Day, various events are
hosted, including the Outstanding Women of Color and Girls of
Color awards, where women from different backgrounds are
commemorated. This day also celebrates supporters of women of
color like men, women, and interest groups that fight against
discrimination and racism in everyday life. The National Institute
for Women of Color or N.I.W.C. was established to safeguard the
rights of women of color and help them build a supportive
framework. Suzanne Brooks, International Association for Women of
Color Day C.E.O., worked for the N.I.W.C. for 11 years and helped
it grow. This was majorly an initiative of undergraduate and
graduate students from Washington State University. Since 1991,
the Annual Community Women of Color Day, also known as the
Diversity Event, has been held in Sacramento. This event happens
on the first Sunday of March every year, and local vendors attend,
and small exhibitions are also held here. Due to the support of
advertisers and charity organizations, they can also raise some
funds to help women in need. Over the years, more than 250
Outstanding Women and Girls of Color recognitions have been
awarded to women in Northern California. Small business owners,
organizations, men, girls, and everyone else who helps make the
world an equal place is appreciated. On Sale @ 15% Off Discount

March 1: National Black Women In Jazz And
The Arts Day: -- An annual holiday that is dedicated to jazz,
fine, visual, performing, and auditory arts in all its glory. The
day is specifically held on the first day of National Women's
History Month because it honors all existing and previous African
American female artists only. This day was established by the
Georgia organization, Black Women In Jazz. When we think jazz, we
think American musical innovation. We think of the dance-oriented
music of the 1920s to the modern avant-garde jazz music. From the
inception of jazz music in the early 20th century, black women
have played important roles in this genre. When we think jazz, we
think American musical innovation. We think of the dance-oriented
music of the 1920s to the modern avant-garde jazz music. From the
inception of jazz music in the early 20th century, black women
have played important roles in this genre. The earliest female
figures were often pianists because playing the piano was deemed
'appropriate' for women. Plus, many of these women performed in
churches. In fact, in the South, jazz music first appeared in
gospel-influenced African-Americans, and this probably led to many
black women taking on roles as pianists. Sexism in the U.S. music
industry took many female performers to Europe and Asia, making
jazz a global phenomenon. By the 1920s, women had been
experimenting with a range of activities. Now, they became
vocalists and instrumentalists. Not famous, not yet, but
experimentation was beginning to take hold. As World War II came
around, so too did opportunities for all-female jazz bands to
thrive. The men were fighting in the military, and women now took
their place. While such bands were not uncommon, their popularity
hit a major stride in this era. The most popular band of that time
was the International Sweethearts of Rhythm. They were initially
marshaled to play in local dances and parties to secure funds for
a school. They took off, and soon, other all-women black jazz
bands followed in their footsteps. It was not all hunky-dory. The
media, press, and society still saw jazz as a male-dominated
sector, and women were encouraged to drop this lifestyle. Women's
suffrage and the emergence of multiple famous black jazz musicians
slowly turned the tide. The genre itself underwent many
transformations, transitioning into today's styles. On Sale @ 15%

March 1: International Ideas Month -- The
first day of the an annual month-long encouragement to people to
recognize the potential of their ideas. The idea of well, an idea,
seems simple, and most fade before they even take off, but change
and innovation all begin with something simple. Some of the most
impressive inventions of the modern world started with an idea.
Gadgets and devices, such as smartphones, are complex and did not
spring up overnight. How often do you have a great idea? While you
do your laundry or other daily chores? Did it enter your mind when
you first woke up, then later you couldn't remember what it was?
Do you have to think hard to kick-start an idea so you leave it
halfway through, assuming it isn't worth the effort? Each one of
us is capable of generating unique ideas. We probably don't even
realize it but have already thought up a few brilliant concepts
with great potential. Unfortunately, most of us dismiss these as
passing thoughts and nothing more. Think about it - out of the
millions of ideas an individual gets, countless could improve
lives and result in something extraordinary. It doesn't help
either that the hustle and bustle of daily life consumes us and
prevents us from working on our ideas. And while determination and
consistency can make the unthinkable happen, many people just let
their ideas slip away while they remain confined to their
routines. This International Ideas Month, it's time to make big
things happen from small ideas. Don't worry much about the
execution - pen down your ideas, brainstorm them, and throw them
around with your friends to make them happen. There is an entire
month to gather the best of our ideas and perfect them. Make sure
you always have a notebook handy to jot down your thoughts on the
go and scribble down your genius ideas. On Sale @ 15% Off Discount

March 1: National Pig Day: -- The perfect
time to celebrate how much pigs have become part of western
culture. In the words of Winston Churchill, "Always remember:
a cat looks down on man, a dog looks up to man, but a pig will
look man right in the eye and see his equal." We see pigs in
art, costumes, stuffed animals, collectables, piggy banks, movies,
books and, of course, on the dinner table. Pigs have lived
throughout the country on farms and in zoos for many years and
even in our homes as pets! It's only fitting to have a day
dedicated to this easily recognizable, endearing creature and
learn more about how they are part of our culture and history.
Fossil records show pigs roamed the Earth as early as 40 million
years ago, and the animals' descendants are believed to have first
been domesticated around 9,000 years ago in current day China and
parts of western Asia. Later, about 3,500 years ago, Romans
introduced breeding for pigs. Pork consumption was banned in parts
of Asia and the Middle East, however, Europans continued refining
purpose-driven pig breeds up to the 1500's. It was around this
time when domesticated pigs first set "hoof" on North
American soils. Christopher Columbus is believed to have eight
pigs along his journey while travelling to Cuba in 1493 after his
initial voyage to the "New World." Columbus' successor
in exploring the America's, Hernando de Soto, brought 13 of the
animals with him when first landing in today's Tampa Bay, Florida,
making the first domesticated pigs in what would become the United
States of America. National Pig Day began in 1972 when two
sisters, Ellen Stanley and Mary Lynne Rave, decided it was time
"to accord to the pig its rightful, though generally
unrecognized, place as one of man's most intellectual and
domesticated animals". The first official celebration took
place that year with the intent of the holiday to respectfully
remember the pig as opposed to serving it as the main meal. Since
then, cities across the country plan fun events such as a "snort
off" competition, pig parades, and pig-themed arts and crafts
activities. As with dogs and cats, potbellied pigs have made great
pets and there are over 1 million of them throughout the US and
Canada today. For most people, the most frequent interaction with
pigs is indeed at the dinner table. Pork is the most popular meat
worldwide with over 80 million tons produced each year making up
40% of all meat consumption. We would be remiss to not mention our
appreciation for all things pork as we celebrate National Pig Day.

March 1: National Horse Protection Day:
-- National Horse Protection Day is on March 1. It campaigns to
put an end to the suffering of horses. Unfortunately, cruelty
against animals is still a norm and horses have been subjected to
neglect and abuse for decades. Today shines a spotlight on this
important topic. National Horse Protection Day was first observed
in 2005 and was introduced by Colleen Paige - an expert on pets,
animal behavior, and a certified horse lover. Her efforts have
propelled the cause for abolishing cruelty toward horses, but
there are still miles to go. In American culture, horses have
always signified freedom. There is a certain mystique about horses
that display their spirit. The plight of horses has been the
subject of many films and literature, of which the 1877 classic
novel "Black Beauty" by Anna Sewell is a prime example.
It is truly tragic that the symbol for freedom is not free itself.
For decades, horses have been abused, neglected, malnourished, and
even slaughtered. What makes it sadder is that horses are
extremely gentle in nature, and are faithful to their owners. From
pulling wagons full of supplies to heading into battle with men,
without horses, many prominent figures in history would have been
defeated at war, and not even have roofs over their heads without
the tireless efforts of horses. These beautiful creatures are
sensitive and are harmless to humans, especially children. This is
exactly why National Horse Protection Day is so important.
Organizations from around the country campaign for better
protection and treatment of horses, as well as provide shelter and
arrange rehabilitation of horses. Some programs allow the adoption
of horses after keeping them under professional care. Sanctuaries
are also provided for severely abused or old horses, so that they
may live the remainder of their lives in peace. On Sale @ 15% Off

March 1: National Employee Appreciation
Day: -- Reminds managers that strong employer-employee relations
are at the core of any truly successful business. Having a great
relationship with your employees is an important aspect of being a
manager, and appreciating their efforts can go a long way towards
making workers feel valued. Take some time on National Employee
Appreciation Day to connect with your employees, offer authentic
praise, and listen to their experiences. If you can, give your
employees part of the day off, or treat them to a special lunch or
group activity. As the basis of the capitalist economic system,
wage labor can be a mutually beneficial relationship between
employer and employee. But, too often, workers feel exploited,
underpaid, and just not appreciated by their managers or bosses.
Strong and trusting employer-employee relations can go a long way
towards ensuring a company's long-term success and retaining a
satisfied and dedicated workforce. The American labor movement has
its origins in the earliest years of the republic when artisans
banded together to maintain wage levels. The earliest strike in
the U.S. happened in 1768 when New York tailors stood their ground
against wage reductions. After that, American craftsmen started
organizing guilds and unions to protect wages and benefits for
their respective trades. American trade unionism was born. Today,
most American workers enjoy basic labor protections like an
eight-hour workday, minimum wage laws, and overtime protections.
Many employers understand the importance of maintaining good
relations with their employees and the positive impact of a happy
workforce, but labor unions continue to fight for those workers
who still experience abuse and exploitation. Workers employed in
agriculture, garment work, factory farming, and other low-wage
industries all face poverty wages, high injury rates, and
exploitative practices. Employee Appreciation Day is gaining
strength in the U.S. and other countries, with many companies
using the day to show appreciation to their employees through some
time off, a small token of gratitude, or a special event. Most of
all, employers can celebrate Employee Appreciation Day all year
long by instituting living wages and fair policies. Employee
appreciation can boost workers' satisfaction and the company's
retention rate, increasing the productivity and profitability of
the company and creating a happier and more pleasant work
environment for all. On Sale @ 15% Off Discount Till Midnight PT!

discrimination in all forms and promoting social inclusion and

Discrimination Day is a global movement that takes place on March
1 every year. Headed by UNAIDS, the day is a call to action for
eradicating discrimination in all forms and promoting social
inclusion and tolerance. Not everyone enjoys the same level of
privilege, but to deprive someone of their right to live the way
they desire is a travesty. Every individual has the right to live
with dignity, regardless of appearance, race, geography, or
belief. Surprisingly, discrimination is commonly rooted in fear or
misinformation and resistance to the unknown. Creating awareness
and dialogue on discrimination is a way to develop understanding
and patience towards others. Discrimination is essentially a human
rights violation and must be challenged. The good news is that
everyone can make a difference. It may not seem that way but one
act can create a domino effect that transforms societies based on
fairness and equality. Zero Discrimination Day was created in
December 2013 by the then UNAIDS Director Michel Sidibe. Inspired
by World AIDS Day, a holiday combating intolerance towards those
living with HIV/AIDS, Zero Discrimination Day was observed to end
the stigma and unfair behavior towards different people. The
United Nations has promoted this cause by arranging various events
and designing campaigns that celebrate human life and the freedom
to live it with honor and dignity, irrespective of gender, race,
religion, color, nationality, disabilities, and profession. On

March 1: World Civil Defense Day: -- An
annual day for the world's attention to be on civil protection and
preparedness. People need to learn how to prevent, prepare for,
and manage emergency situations such as accidents and disasters.
The day celebrates the honor and prestige of those in civil
protection. It calls on more people to learn about safety measures
and protection skills they would need in the case of any form of
emergencies, natural or man-made. A famous Civil Defense Day quote
is, "We can only hope for the best as long as we are
satisfyingly prepared for the worst." Civil Defense Day is
all about raising awareness of the need to plan ahead. World Civil
Defense Day was initiated by the International Civil Defense
Organization. They conduct its activities every year. The day was
created to pay tribute to the efforts of national services
responsible for the fight against disasters. It also creates
awareness of the need for self-protection and preventative
measures in the event of accidents or disasters. The International
Civil Defense Organization, or I.C.D.O., has its origins in the
Association of Geneva Zones, which was founded by Surgeon-General
George Saint-Paul in 1931. After seeing the effects of war on the
population, Saint-Paul wanted to create safety zones where
civilians could seek refuge in times of war. Civil defense, or
civil protection, is all about protecting citizens from natural
disasters by teaching them to protect themselves through knowledge
of prevention, preparation, response, evacuation, and recovery
skills. As time went by, the name and objectives of the
association were changed to create the International Civil Defense
Organization we have today. The I.C.D.O. is an intergovernmental
organization that ensures the safeguarding of lives, property, and
the environment from natural or man-made disasters. In 1972, the
member-states of the I.C.D.O. approved the current constitution of
the organization, which entered into force on March 1 of the same
year. Every year, the I.C.D.O. selects a theme to guide the
activities of World Civil Defense Day. In 2019, it was "Children's
safety, our responsibility". In 2022, the theme is 'Uniting

of students and civilians in Seoul. There were over 1,000

The Maroon Wars: The First Maroon War: -- Having found it
impossible to defeat the Jamaican Maroons guerilla warriors led by
Cudjoe of the Jamaican Leeward Maroons under the overall
leadership of Nanny Of The Maroons (Queen Nanny, Granny Nanny) of
the Jamaican Widward Maroon, the British planter and colonial
militia leader John Guthrie signed a peace treaty with the Leeward
Maroon leader Cudjoe, who for years had fought to maintain his
people's independence. A year later, the Windward Maroons of Nanny
Town, led by Queen Nanny and Quao, also agreed to sign a treaty
under pressure from both white Jamaicans and the Leeward Maroons.
The peace treaties forced the Maroons to support the institution
of slavery. The terms of the treaties largely reflected the power
imbalance between the two sides, favoring British interests and
granting the Maroons limited autonomy in exchange for their
cooperation in maintaining the colonial system of slavery. The
treaty terms were also different between the Maroon groups, with
the Leeward Maroons receiving more favorable conditions, including
a larger land grant and fewer restrictions on agricultural
activities, while the Windward Treaty imposed stricter regulations
and smaller land allocations. The First Maroon War was a conflict
between the Jamaican Maroons and the colonial British authorities
that started around 1728 and continued until the peace treaties of
1739 and 1740. It was led by Indigenous Jamaicans (Taino, or
island Arawak) who helped Africans to set up communities in the
mountains. The name "Maroon" was given to these
Africans, and for many years they fought the British colonial
Government of Jamaica for their freedom. The maroons were skilled
in guerrilla warfare. The war was followed about half a century
later by the Second Maroon War. Maroon was the name given to
escaped African slaves and their descendants in the Caribbean. A
large community began to flourish on the island of Jamaica, which
was ruled by the Spanish at the time, from 1530 onwards after
several slave revolts in the colonies of New Spain. The Spanish
called them maroons, which is believed to come from the word
'cimarron', meaning 'fierce' or 'unruly'. They were known to often
ally themselves with buccaneer privateers and pirates. In 1655 the
British conquered much of Jamaica and many slaves took advantage
of the opportunity to join the maroon communities in the hills. At
first, they fought the British, but later allied themselves with
them against the Spanish under their leader Lubolo, finally
driving the Spanish from the island in 1660. When Lubolo was later
killed by another maroon leader called Juan de Serras in 1663, a
war lasting decades broke out. The British were unable to dislodge
the maroons from their bases in the mountains, and in 1720 the
maroons went on the offensive, attacking plantations. By that
time, the maroons were divided into two factions, the Windward and
Leeward maroons. Between 1729 and 1739 open warfare was waged
between them and the British, but the guerilla tactics of the
ex-slaves was too much for the British governor, Robert Hunter,
and his troops, and after his death the new Jamaican government
resorted to a combination of negotiations and the tactic of divide
and conquer. The war ended with a treaty in 1739, although slavery
in the Caribbean continued for another century. Ironically, the
maroons were obligated under the treaty to return runaway slaves
to their owners. It wasn't until a massive slave revolt in 1831
that slavery was finally abolished throughout the British
Caribbean. Cudjoe, Codjoe or Captain Cudjoe was a Jamaican Leeward
Maroon leader described as "the greatest of the Maroon
leaders." Enslaved Africans in western Jamaica ran away into
the Cockpit Country within the west-central side, of Jamaica and
established the first community of Leeward Maroons in the
mountainous interior of the island. These self-liberated Africans
were called Maroons after the Spanish word cimarron, meaning
"runaway slave". Nanny of the Maroons ONH (Order Of The
National Hero), also known as Queen Nanny and Granny Nanny (c.
1686 - c. 1760) was leader of the Jamaican Maroon community of
formerly-enslaved escapees, the majority of them West African in
descent, called the Windward Maroons, along with their children
and families. At the beginning of the 18th century, under the
leadership of Nanny, the Windward Maroons in the First Maroon War.
Much of what is known about Nanny comes from oral history, as
little textual evidence exists. According to Maroon legend, Queen
Nanny was born in 1686 and was an Asante from Asanteman, who was
taken into slavery by the British. During the years of warfare,
the British suffered significant losses in their encounters with
the Windward Maroons of eastern Jamaica. Maroons attributed their
success against the British to the successful use of supernatural
powers by Nanny, while historians believe that the Maroons'
mastery of guerrilla warfare and vast knowledge of the natural
terrain played a significant role in their successes. Having
failed to defeat them on the battlefield, the British sued the
Maroons for peace, signing a treaty with them on April 20, 1740.
The treaty stopped the hostilities, provided state-sanctioned
freedom for the Maroons, and granted 500 acres (202 ha) of land to
Nanny and her followers. The village built through that land grant
still stands, and is called Moore Town or the "New"
Nanny Town. Modern members of Moore Town celebrate April 20, 1740
as a holiday, known informally in places today as "4/20"
or "four-twenty". In 1975, the government of Jamaica
declared Nanny their only female national hero by celebrating her
success as a leader. Her image is printed on the Jamaican 500 JMD
legal tender, which is referred to as a "Nanny". The
Jamaican Maroons were reputed to be so difficult to defeat because
of their skill in guerilla warfare and because when they were
within British long gun range and being shot at they engaged in a
quick and unpredictable jerking of their body so as to make them a
difficult target to shoot, and to afford them an opportunity to
escape being shot at. On Sale @ 15% Off Discount Till Midnight PT!

March 1, 1810: #BOTD: #HBD! Frederic
Chopin, Polish composer and virtuoso pianist of the Romantic era
who wrote primarily for the solo piano (d. October 17, 1849) is
#born Fryderyk Franciszek Chopin in Zelazowa Wola, 46 kilometres
(29 miles) west of Warsaw, in what was then the Duchy of Warsaw, a
Polish state established by Napoleon. Frederic Francois Chopin
gained and has maintained renown worldwide as a leading musician
of his era, whose "poetic genius was based on a professional
technique that was without equal in his generation." Chopin
was born in what was then the Duchy of Warsaw and grew up in
Warsaw, which in 1815 became part of Congress Poland. A child
prodigy, he completed his musical education and composed his
earlier works in Warsaw before leaving Poland at the age of 20,
less than a month before the outbreak of the November 1830
Uprising. At 21 he settled in Paris. Thereafter, during the last
18 years of his life, he gave only some 30 public performances,
preferring the more intimate atmosphere of the salon. He supported
himself by selling his compositions and by teaching piano, for
which he was in high demand. Chopin formed a friendship with Franz
Liszt and was admired by many of his musical contemporaries,
including Robert Schumann. In 1835 he obtained French citizenship.
After a failed engagement to Maria Wodzinska from 1836 to 1837, he
maintained an often troubled relationship with the (female) French
writer George Sand. A brief and unhappy visit to Majorca with Sand
in 1838-39 was one of his most productive periods of composition.
In his last years, he was financially supported by his admirer
Jane Stirling, who also arranged for him to visit Scotland in
1848. Through most of his life, Chopin suffered from poor health.
He died in Paris in 1849, at the age of 39, probably of
tuberculosis. All of Chopin's compositions include the piano. Most
are for solo piano, though he also wrote two piano concertos, a
few chamber pieces, and some songs to Polish lyrics. His keyboard
style is highly individual and often technically demanding; his
own performances were noted for their nuance and sensitivity.
Chopin invented the concept of the instrumental ballade.
Influences on his composition style include Polish folk music, the
classical tradition of J. S. Bach, Mozart and Schubert, as well as
the Paris salons where he was a frequent guest. His innovations in
style, musical form, and harmony, and his association of music
with nationalism, were influential throughout and after the late
Romantic period. Chopin's music, his status as one of music's
earliest superstars, his association (if only indirect) with
political insurrection, his love life and his early death have
made him a leading symbol of the Romantic era in the public
consciousness. His works remain popular, and he has been the
subject of numerous films and biographies of varying degrees of
historical accuracy. On Sale @ 15% Off Discount Till Midnight PT!

Mysterious Mr Tesla Documentary On Nikola Tesla DVD, Download, USB
March 1, 1893: The History Of
Broadcasting: The History Of Radio: -- Nikola Tesla gives the
first public demonstration of radio in St. Louis, Missouri. In the
summer of 1889, Tesla traveled to the 1889 Exposition Universelle
in Paris and learned of Heinrich Hertz's 1886-88 experiments that
proved the existence of electromagnetic radiation, including radio
waves. Tesla found this new discovery "refreshing" and
decided to explore it more fully. In repeating, and then expanding
on, these experiments, Tesla tried powering a Ruhmkorff coil with
a high speed alternator he had been developing as part of an
improved arc lighting system but found that the high-frequency
current overheated the iron core and melted the insulation between
the primary and secondary windings in the coil. To fix this
problem Tesla came up with his Tesla coil with an air gap instead
of insulating material between the primary and secondary windings
and an iron core that could be moved to different positions in or
out of the coil. In 1893 at St. Louis, Missouri, the Franklin
Institute in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and the National Electric
Light Association, Tesla told onlookers that he was sure a system
like his could eventually conduct "intelligible signals or
perhaps even power to any distance without the use of wires"
by conducting it through the Earth. Tesla served as a
vice-president of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers
from 1892 to 1894, the forerunner of the modern-day IEEE (along
with the Institute of Radio Engineers). In 1898, Tesla
demonstrated a boat that used a coherer-based radio control, which
he dubbed "telautomaton", for the public during an
electrical exhibition at Madison Square Garden. The crowd that
witnessed the demonstration made outrageous claims about the
workings of the boat, such as magic, telepathy, and being piloted
by a trained monkey hidden inside. Tesla tried to sell his idea to
the US military as a type of radio-controlled torpedo, but they
showed little interest. Remote radio control remained a novelty
until World War I and afterward, when a number of countries used
it in military programs. Tesla took the opportunity to further
demonstrate "Teleautomatics" in an address to a meeting
of the Commercial Club in Chicago, while he was travelling to
Colorado Springs, on May 13, 1899. On January 10, 1943, New York
City mayor Fiorello La Guardia read a eulogy written by
Slovene-American author Louis Adamic live over the WNYC radio
while violin pieces "Ave Maria" and "Tamo daleko"
were played in the background. On Sale @ 15% Off Discount Till

Lindbergh, is abducted from the crib in the upper floor of his
home in Highfields in East Amwell, New Jersey, United States. The
Lindberghs then paid a 50K USD ransom. However, on May 12, the
boy's body was discovered by a truck driver by the side of a road
in a wooded area a few miles from the house. In September 1934, a
German immigrant carpenter named Richard Hauptmann was arrested
for the crime. After a trial that lasted from January 2 to
February 13, 1935, he was found guilty of first-degree murder and
sentenced to death. Despite his conviction, he continued to
profess his innocence, but all appeals failed and he was executed
in the electric chair at the New Jersey State Prison on April 3,
1936. Newspaper writer H. L. Mencken called the kidnapping and
trial "the biggest story since the Resurrection." Legal
scholars have referred to the trial as one of the "trials of
the century". The crime spurred Congress to pass the Federal

Assassination MP3 Collection CD, MP3 Download, USB Flash Drive
March 1, 1969: United States Presidential
Assassination Attempts And Plots: United States Presidential
Assassinations: The Assassination Of John F. Kennedy: The Trial Of
Clay Shaw: -- After the prosecution and the defense had finished
presenting their cases, the jury takes 54 minutes to find Clay
Shaw not guilty in the only trial to be brought for the
assassination of President Kennedy. Attorney and author Mark Lane
said that he interviewed several jurors after the trial. Although
these interviews have never been published, Lane said that some of
the jurors believed that Garrison had in fact proven to them that
there really was a conspiracy to kill President Kennedy, but that
Garrison had not adequately linked the conspiracy to Shaw or
provided a motive. Author and playwright James Kirkwood, who was a
personal friend of Clay Shaw, said that he spoke to several jury
members who denied ever speaking to Lane. Kirkwood also cast doubt
on Lane's claim that the jury believed there was a conspiracy. In
his book American Grotesque, Kirkwood said that jury foreman
Sidney Hebert told him: "I didn't think too much of the
Warren Report either until the trial. Now I think a lot more of it
than I did before." On May 8, 1967, the New Orleans
States-Item reported that Garrison charged that the CIA and FBI
cooperated to conceal the facts of the assassination, and that he
planned to seek a Senate inquiry looking into the CIA's role in
the Warren Commission's investigation. Garrison later wrote a book
about his investigation of the JFK assassination and the
subsequent trial called On the Trail of the Assassins. This book
served as one of the main sources for Oliver Stone's movie JFK. In
the movie, this trial serves as the back story for Stone's account
of the assassination of John F. Kennedy. On November 22, 1963, the
day that President John F. Kennedy was assassinated, Banister
pistol whipped Martin after a heated exchange. (There are
different accounts as to whether the argument was over phone bills
or missing files.) Over the next few days, Martin told authorities
and reporters that Banister had often been in the company of a man
named David Ferrie who, Martin said, might have been involved in
the assassination of John F. Kennedy. Martin told the New Orleans
police that Ferrie knew accused assassin Lee Harvey Oswald going
back to when both men had served together in the New Orleans Civil
Air Patrol and that Ferrie "was supposed to have been the
getaway pilot in the assassination." Martin also said that
Ferrie had driven to Dallas the night before the assassination, a
trip which Ferrie explained as research for a prospective business
venture to determine "the feasibility and possibility of
opening an ice skating rink in New Orleans." As Garrison
continued his investigation he became convinced that a group of
right-wing activists, which he believed included David Ferrie, Guy
Banister, and Clay Shaw (director of the International Trade Mart
in New Orleans), were involved in a conspiracy with elements of
the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) to kill President Kennedy.
Garrison would later say that the motive for the assassination was
anger over Kennedy's foreign policy, especially Kennedy's efforts
to find a political, rather than a military, solution in Cuba and
Southeast Asia, and his efforts toward a rapprochement with the
Soviet Union. Garrison also believed that Shaw, Banister, and
Ferrie had conspired to set up Oswald as a patsy in the JFK
assassination. News of Garrison's investigation was reported in
the New Orleans States-Item on February 17, 1967. On February 22,
1967, less than a week after the newspaper broke the story of
Garrison's investigation, David Ferrie, then his chief suspect,
was found dead in his apartment from a brain aneurysm. Garrison
suspected that Ferrie had been murdered despite the coroner's
report that his death was due to natural causes. According to
Garrison, the day news of the investigation broke, Ferrie had
called his aide Lou Ivon and warned that "I'm a dead man".
Garrison believed that Clay Shaw was the mysterious "Clay
Bertrand" mentioned in the Warren Commission investigation.
In the Warren Commission Report, New Orleans attorney Dean
Andrews, claimed that he was contacted the day after the
assassination by a "Clay Bertrand" who requested that he
go to Dallas to represent Oswald. On March 1, 1967, New Orleans
District Attorney Jim Garrison arrested and charged New Orleans
businessman Clay Shaw with conspiring to assassinate President
Kennedy, with the help of Lee Harvey Oswald, David Ferrie, and
others. On January 29, 1969, Clay Shaw was brought to trial in
Orleans Parish Criminal Court on charges of conspiring to
assassinate President Kennedy, with the help of Lee Harvey Oswald,
David Ferrie, and others. On Sale @ 15% Off Discount Till Midnight
